Baraja: "tHE TEAM kePT going AND COMPETED UNTIL THE END"
The Valencia CF coach talks after the 2-2 result against Deportivo Alavés
Diego López analyzes today's game vs. Girona FC.
Diego López spoke to VCF Media at the end of the match against Girona FC. The Valencia CF attacker analyzed the team's defeat (1-3) in Matchday 37 of LaLiga EA Sports 2023-24.
The game was marked by the goal-scoring
In the first half, they created two or three clear chances and scored one. We had a couple of clear chances and we converted them. We went into the break with 0-1, but the talk was positive. We had to have personality and have the ball, as it was very difficult for them to play without the ball. Then we conceded the second goal, which was a hard blow. The team kept trying and we didn't succeed in the second half in the two or three clear chances we had. The goal was the decisive factor in the match. Now, we have a week of work to do, we will not give up and we will die on our feet. We will go for the victory in Vigo.
Maximum effort
It is non-negotiable. There is no doubt about it. We give our all every game. We all row in the same direction. It's a shame to end the season with this bad run, because it doesn't reflect the work we've been doing all season. It's a shame that people get this image. Inside we are very proud of the work we have done and for next season we will try to improve these matches to finish with more energy.
Learnings
The objective has always been to stay in the league and we have achieved it without any problems, many days in advance. The attitude we have had throughout the year has led us to fight for the European places. Perhaps, the pressure of being so close has weighed on us. Many of the players in the dressing room are new to this. This season will help us to learn how to manage which games and which moments. It has been a season with a very nice learning experience, very good, and the locker room is very happy, even if today they are disappointed. Looking ahead to next season we will try to improve these things.
Going for Celta
The last few games do not reflect what the season has been like and we want to end it with a victory. It would be the best way to go on vacation and not with the bad taste in our mouths of the last few games. This week we will work hard, analyze the rival and go for the three points in Vigo.
